This page will give you a brief overview of the options available in the left hand menu of the control panel.
- Dashboard -The Dashboard is an overview of the site, giving you statistics on the number of posts, comments and other information. Included on this page is a Google Analytics summary which will show you the recent traffic levels on the site.
- Posts - This is where you will manage, write, and edit your blog posts. The two options available in the sub menu are Posts, which gives you an overview of your previous articles, and Add New, which allows you to create a new article.
- Media - The Media section is where you will find all of the pictures and other files uploaded to the site. If you add a picture to your article, it will be stored here. Or you can use the Add New link in the menu to upload a file without placing it in an article.
- Comments – This area allows you to view comments posted to the site in chronological order.
- Profile - The profile page is where you can update your personal information. You can change your email address, your displayed name, your password and other options. Be sure to click the “Update Profile” button when you are done to save your changes.
- Tools – Under the Tools menu you will find a bookmark-let which will allow you to capture a summary of the content on any website and put it directly into a new post. Read through the description on the page for more detailed instructions.
In the upper right hand corner of the control panel you will see a shortcut menu which leads you to frequently used areas of the site. You will also find the help menu. WordPress is very well documented and with a little reading, you will find the answers to almost all of your questions.
